Friday Finds: A Few of my Favorite Things 3

August 4, 2017

This has been a roller coaster week! I can now freely say I have accepted a new position and will be starting a new job at the end of the month. It is incredibly difficult to leave the place and the people that have helped me grow so much as a dietitian and as a person, but I am so excited for what lies ahead. I have had the craziest range of emotion this week as I accepted and announced the change, but it is all finally settling in and I am eager to tie up loose ends at my current position and start a new adventure! That being said, here are some things that I have been loving lately:

Cheers!
Food

A battle that my husband and I have is the love and hate relationship we have with cilantro. I love it and he hates it. Apparently it is not his fault he hates this wonderful delicious herb, its genetic. This video tells me why I can blame my in-laws instead of my hubby.

So to enjoy all the goodness that cilantro has to offer, I have been dousing my salads with Bolthouse Farms Cilantro Avocado Yogurt Dressing. I have used this on every type of salad I have had at home the past two weeks. It was especially good on my taco salad tonight!

blog post

Kylie, Registered Dietitian and author of the Imma eat that blog published a post last week that truly hit home. “A Goodbye to my Pre-Pregnancy Body” will slap you in the face and make you stop looking at your pre-preggo pictures with envy, and appreciate that your body is allowed to change and still be healthy and beautiful.

It that doesn’t put your self-imposed body image crisis into perspective, I don’t know what will.

Summer produce

In the height of summer I am incredibly jealous of all the fruits and veggies people are gathering from their gardens. Luckily for us, we have friends with said gardens who are generous enough to share the abundance. A big bag of zucchini and a pint of blueberries were generously given to us by a friend and I went to town with roasted zucchini and this seriously delicious Blueberry Zucchini Bread.

baby

Over the past few months we have been traveling and leaving the house with Harper more often than ever before. She does really well when we are out and about other places (still sleeps like a champ!) but hauling a high chair around to feed her in? No way. This chair has seriously been a huge life  space-saver. It comes with a removable insert so that when baby gets bigger, it can still be used as a booster. We have been using it weekly since she was about 4-5 months old. We also have the activity tray to entertain her when it is not being used for mealtimes.

aldi haul

Last weekend we took a family trip to Aldi. Sixty dollars later and we had just about all the groceries we needed for the week. You seriously cannot beat that! From their weekly deals, we found a lot of really good items on sale .. impulse buys (an ongoing problem of mine).. but great buys nonetheless.

Asian cuisine week at Aldi!
Fancy snack for the hubby and I after a 2 mile walk last Sunday.

What are some of your favorite finds from the last few weeks?!
