My name is Kelsey and I am a Registered Dietitian. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University’s Coordinated program with my Bachelor degree in dietetics in 2016. Two years prior I had graduated with a bachelor degree in biology and had every intention to become an Optometrist. I was 1 month from beginning Optometry school in Birmingham, AL when I had the epiphany that this was not what I was meant to do. It took me a short while to commit, but I thankfully found nutrition and dietetics.
My husband and I live in the small Mid-Michigan town that we both grew up in. We recently began a brand-new adventure of raising our baby girl.
This blog is a way for me to fulfill a void that just cannot be met in the world of clinical dietetics. I love promoting balanced living—having the knowledge to make good choices but being confident and comfortable eating that bowl of ice cream or a piece of your grandma’s carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (drool…). My hope is that this blog will reach people who want to find their balance and can learn from my experiences (as well as teach me things along the way!)
I firmly believe that health should NOT be gauged by the number on the scale. While this is a good guide and marker, a number cannot gauge our strength, happiness, or overall wellbeing. After only one year in clinical work I can tell you that low or normal BMIs are NOT indicators of good health.
I have an insatiable sweet tooth (runs in the fam- just ask my dad) love to-do lists, crave exercise more for my mood than anything it could possibly do for my physique, and love coffee in the morning as well as the occasional glass (or two) of wine in the evening.
I love to-do lists, budgeting (making them…. following one is a work in progress), journaling, watching webinars, cooking and baking.
I am learning the ways of motherhood and trying to do the best I can at raising a healthy and confident daughter. As a dietitian and a new mother I am naturally obsessed with baby food and you can look forward to many posts regarding the matter.
Speaking of baby girl.. look forward to many posts regarding her. Period.
I fully acknowledge and freely admit to my good readers that I am a “next best thing” seeker. This blog is also a way for me to stay in the here and now and consistently remind myself that what is happening at this moment is important to me, my family, and hopefully those taking the time to read and respond.
Thank you for visiting, reading, commenting, and reaching out to me with any interests and questions!
